Arrive Beijing
Ni hao! Private transfer from Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) to Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing — Garden Wing. Evening at leisure to settle in or explore the lively streets.
Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City
Guided morning at Tiananmen Square — the world's largest public square. Step into the Forbidden City, a UNESCO World Heritage complex that housed 24 emperors. This evening, savour a traditional Peking duck banquet at a local restaurant.
The Great Wall — Juyong Pass
Travel out of the city to walk the Great Wall of China at Juyong Pass — one of the most historically significant and impenetrable segments. Visit a local jade factory before returning to Beijing for an optional acrobatic kung fu performance.
Beijing → Xi'an by Bullet Train
Transfer to the station and board your high-speed G-train (Second Class) for the journey to Xi'an. Check in to Shangri-La Xi'an. Optional Xi'an night tour of the Bell Tower, South Gate and Tang Ever Bright Mall.
Terracotta Warriors
Visit a Terracotta Warriors workshop, then the Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum to see the real army — one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. Afternoon at leisure inside Xi'an's 14th-century city walls.
Fly to Shanghai — The Bund & Yu Gardens
Domestic flight Xi'an → Shanghai. Stroll through Yuyuan Bazaar, the classical Chinese landscaping of Yu Gardens, and the colonial waterfront of The Bund. Visit a local silk mill. Farewell group dinner this evening.
Departure
Final breakfast at Pudong Shangri-La, then private transfer to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) for your onward journey home.
